At Decidim Fest 2024, Gerard Fox (the IADT) presented on civic participation and interdisciplinary transnational collaboration, integrating the Erasmus+ Digital Mythologies project as a key example. Alongside other examples of European and transnational partnership, participation and civic innovation, Gerard took the opportunity to showcase Digital Mythologies as a model of effective European partnership, advancing cultural and digital literacy across borders. He emphasised the need for 21st-century education to foster critical thinking, systems thinking, and participatory skills to build engaged citizenries. Platforms like Decidim, which create inclusive digital public infrastructures, underscore the potential of initiatives like Digital Mythologies to drive collaborative learning and shared cultural understanding across Europe.
In the same session, Kirsi Verka from Aalto University presented on a Helsinki-based participatory budgeting project, adding further depth to the conversation on transnational educational partnerships. Together, these presentations highlighted the value of interdisciplinary and cross-border collaboration in cultivating civic agency and empowering informed participation across an interconnected world.
